Made Sense to Me Having been in four Rotary clubs over the past 49 years and having had the privilege of being district governor, there are many wonderful memories. Here is one. When I belonged to the Neenah club there was a local attorney whose office was half a block from the hotel where our club met. Charlie was nearly 100 and sharp as ever. In fact, he had written little endearing books about local lakes and small communities. It was my good luck to have read a couple of them and loved to sit with him to hear his stories. Upon arriving at a meeting one day, I saw a spot beside him. After our greeting, I asked him what was new. He said he had stopped practicing law a couple days before. Naturally, I first suspected a health problem. He said he was writing another book, and people kept interrupting his work with legal business. “I want to finish the book before I die.” Made sense to me. Karl Hertz
