Last December, we completed Part 1 of the D6270 PolioPlus Challenge, when we raised over $90.000 for polio eradication during the first half of the 2024-25 Rotary Year.
During the challenge, it was pointed out that many clubs do their fundraising for PolioPlus in the Spring, and that there should be some sort of reward for the clubs that did not participate in the first Challenge.  Well, here it is…

The Challenge Continues. Each November, at the D6270 Foundation Dinner, the top fundraising clubs get a certificate of achievement, signed by the President of Rotary International and the Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Rotary Foundation, to proudly display at club functions.  We approximated this with the certificates that we were presented in January to the Elkhorn Rotary Club, for winning both the Total Contribution and the Per Capita Contribution awards from the first six months of the year.

For the Second Challenge, we will be doing something Grander. We will be awarding the First Ever Busted Crutch Awards to the club that has raised the most money for PolioPlus, and the highest Per Capita giving to PolioPlus, for the entire 2024-25 Rotary Year, this coming July.  This will be a one-of-a-kind laser engraved recognition that can be displayed at your club to indicate that your efforts will make a difference in eliminating polio, and allowing us to “bust the crutches” as they will no longer be needed to support children crippled by the disease.

If your club is a “spring collector”, now is your chance to shine.  If you participated last fall, here is a chance to pad your totals, and improve your standing in the district.

All contributions to PolioPlus will be counted, using the official report published by The Rotary Foundation at the end of each month. Updates will be sent out at the end of March, April and May, with weekly reports planned for the first three weeks of June, to keep everyone current on the standings. All contributions should be sent to TRF for recording and tracking by the third week in June, to avoid last minute problems as we experienced in December.

Thank You, and Good Luck in your fundraising efforts.
