1. TM Rotary News is being delivered early this week to assure everyone has plenty of time to read up on the status of the food drive, and have plenty of opportunity to get to the grocery store before the final week.
2. At the 3/4 mark, Team Wiese shrugged off the criticisms of last place through the first two weeks and delivered 150 items to jump into first place with 678 points. Team Hillman performed atrociously delivering 20 items to increase their total to 658 leaving it in a close second. Team Jacobs was in with 70 additional items bringing their total to 570 for a close third. The club total is currently at 1906 items/dollars donated, which is expected to more than double next week, being December 18 which is the last opportunity to drive your team to the top. Each canned item donated is worth a point. If you’re a check writer, checks can be made out to Ozaukee Family Sharing. Again, last opportunity is December 18.
3. If you are a check writer, write the check now and put it in your purse or wallet to be sure you don't forget it on Tuesday.
4. If you are at all like me (poor, but still wanting to contribute in a big way), here's a list of the sales our local stores are offering:
Piggly Wiggly: Del Monte Canned Vegetables are 4 for $5; Food Club Beans are $0.49/can; and Ramen Noodles are 5 for $1 (I'm not the final arbiter of what counts for a point, but Sandy might be feeling generous, especially since I already set the expectation that the club total will more than double).
Pick 'N Save: Del Monte Canned Vegetables and Swanson Broth are Buy 1 Get 1 Free; Campbell's Soup is 10 for $10; Progresso Soup are 2 for $2 with digital coupon, limit of 5 offers (10 cans); and Creamette Noodles and Kraft Mac and Cheese are 4 for $3 with digital coupon, limit 5 offers (20 items).
Sendik's: Shurfine Beans are 2 for $1; Del Monte Canned Vegetables are 5 for $5; Progresso Soup is 5 for $5; and Dole Canned Pineapple is $0.99/can. Not only that, you'll also enjoy carts with strong wheels and a soft carpeted floor.
Aldi: Evaporated Milk is $0.59/can... that's all they're advertising, but lets face it, they probably have lower prices than the other stores' sales if you're willing to give up the carpeted floors.
Menard's: Let's face it, you still have some Christmas shopping to do, which might land you at Menard's; so while you're there, pick up some Stokley's Solid Pack Pumpkin or Southeastern Mills Muffin or Biscuit Mix for just $0.78/each.
Bass Pro Shop: I don't think they have food, but I wanted to brag that I even looked through their advertisement for you.
Finally, lets not forget about Meijer, Costco, and Walmart which all offer a good opportunity to contribute in a big way for less money.
4. No meetings on December 25 and January 1 for obvious reasons. Meetings will resume January 8, 2019, when we will begin meeting and eating on the golf course at hole 18 to begin our annual 8 week tradition of freeze your a** on the grass (please note, we will not actually be meeting or eating outdoors, this newsletter simply needed the same joke for a second consecutive week in case you missed it the first week, or just because I thought it was pretty funny).
