Tom Howell, a professional and Olympic curler, regaled us with tales of his Olympic and professional curling careers, and showed off the equipment used to strategically guide a 42# granite stone (quarried in Scotland where the sport began) to the house, the target for the eight stones (four thrown by each team). Tom noted that anyone can curl. In his curling club he competes against curlers in their teens and on up to octagenarians, though he did note that professionals are generally in their 20s to 40s.
