The Rotary Magazine's humor page - 1940s
"Stripped Gears" - The Magazine's humor page - 1940 - Rotary.
Stripped Gears, the magazine's humor page of the Rotary, first appeared in January 1940 — although cartoons and jokes had been published since the early days. The Stripped Gears column was "retired" by the editors in May 1983, when the magazine changed its format, but readers disagreed with the decision. By popular demand, the column was reinstated in April 1984. The magazine started publishing humorous cartoons in its early years, and continues to run six or seven per issue. Most contributions to Stripped Gears come from Rotarians throughout the world.
